Branham Corporation

These photographs are a part of an ongoing project. I started this project during my 4x5 view camera class in the spring of 2007. I believe this work is a lot stronger now that I am working with color film. This warehouse is filled with color and I intend on working with it through this fall semester. This project came about while I was working for the company. I have been employed for almost a year now. I decided to get familiar with my co-workers and the warehouse before I brought my camera out. This project will last as long as I am employed by Branham Corporation. There will be more work published.

Storefront Project

The Storefront project is something I have briefly touched on in my past work. I am now focused on this project more now then ever. I plan on working mostly at night trying to render the ambient colors. This particular photograph was taken this past summer in Livingston, TN. There will be more work posted in the near future.

John

This is my friend John that I met on the streets of Johnson City, TN. He and I hung out and took some pictures. He was an amazing model, he was very patient and understanding. This photograph is currently hanging on the wall at Johnson City Custom Framing. They were nice enough to mat and frame this picture for me. They had a customer some in a while ago and he knew John and was asking about him.

Mockingbird 2007

Yesterday I attended the Mockingbird reception at the Reece Museum. This literary magazine incorporated poems and art work from current ETSU students. The artwork for the magazine was juried by Adam Justice of the William King Regional Arts Center in Abingdon, VA. My photograph “Roan Mountain” of Roan Mountain was considered honorable mention. My photograph was published in the magazine and I received a $25 cash prize. I have an entire page dedicated to my photograph, “Roan Mountain”. This is the first time I have ever won money in an art contest. My work will be hanging on the walls in the Reece Museum until the end of the semester.

Student Honor Show 2007

I have had a photograph and a 3D work of mine selected for the 2007 Student Honor Show. Derek Guthrie, International Art Critic and Co-founding editor of New Art Examiner juried the show. Throughout the week my work has been hung on the walls of the Slocumb Gallery. This is the first time my work has ever been hung on the walls of a gallery. I didn’t want to submit just photographs because I wanted to see just how good my work is. Unfortunately I didn’t walk home with any awards but I was still honored to have my work selected by the jury.

Photo Contest

Well it is official, I am going to have my work published in the 2007 College Forum book this summer. The image listed above is the image that will be printed. I am not sure exactly how large my print will be in the book but I do not really care, this will be my first publication in a book.

Model Flyer

I am currently in a view camera class with Michael Smith. I am wanting to concentrate primarily on portraiture but I have not had any models to cooperate with me. I have posted this flyer around the student center (Culp Center) and had amazing results. I hung it up on February 22 and had at least 8 people call me to participate. The view camera is not a point and click camera. It requires a lot of patience with the subject and the photographer.

Raster Based Imaging Project

I am currently taking a Raster Based Imaging class at E.T.S.U. as a filler. I was forced to take this class to keep my scholarship. In this class, we basically work with Photoshop CS2 and other difficult computer programs. This image is a mixture of 5 different photographs I took around campus with my Canon 10D digital camera. If you were to see the final print out, you would be able to see why I hate digital photography so much.

Campus Tree

This is a tree I have been photographing for the past 2 years. Unfortunatly they are going to cut it down to extend the road behind it another 5 feet. This tree is some 100 years old.
